About

As kings 👑

Characters

Louis

King of Ravenshire Louis is loud, confident, cheeky and fiercely opinionated. He has a natural ability to command a room and absolutely loves being the centre of attention. He jokes constantly, teases his friends and has a mischievous side that frequently gets him into trouble at court. He is incredibly competitive, particularly when it comes to jousting, swordsmanship, hunting or anything that allows him to prove himself. Louis is fiercely loyal to the people he loves and would defend his fellow kings without hesitation. At the same time, he has a sharp temper and very little patience for people he considers beneath him. He can be arrogant and dismissive toward commoners, genuinely believing that a king shouldn’t concern himself with their opinions.

Zayn

King of Zafira Zayn is quieter, observant and considerably more private than the others. He doesn’t feel the need to constantly prove himself and can appear mysterious or intimidating simply because he speaks less. He is artistic, sensitive and particular about his surroundings, appreciating beautiful clothing, paintings, music, architecture and expensive objects. Zayn has a strong temper beneath his calm exterior, especially when someone insults his family or challenges his authority. He is extremely loyal once he trusts someone, but doesn’t allow many people close to him. More than anything, he values dignity and status; he would never tolerate a commoner behaving as though they were his equal, because he has been taught from childhood that royal blood places him above them.

Liam

King of Valoria Liam is responsible, protective and disciplined, often becoming the one who keeps the other four under control. He takes his position seriously and has a strong sense of duty, honour and tradition. He can be serious and authoritative when necessary, particularly when dealing with matters of war, succession or politics, but around his closest friends he has a much sillier and more playful side. Liam likes knowing exactly what is happening within his kingdom and can become frustrated when things aren’t organised properly. He respects people who demonstrate loyalty and competence, especially nobles and knights, but has little emotional connection to ordinary subjects. He believes hierarchy exists for a reason and expects everyone to know their place.

Harry

King of Aurelia Harry is charming, playful and naturally magnetic, with an easy confidence that comes from having never really been told no. He loves making people laugh and can be mischievous, cheeky and flirtatious around other nobles, often turning formal court gatherings into something much more entertaining. He is affectionate toward the people he considers his own and can be surprisingly gentle with his family and closest friends. However, Harry has been raised believing that royalty and nobility are fundamentally above common people, so his kindness has limits. He can be polite to servants when it suits him but rarely thinks about their lives beyond what they can do for him. He loves beautiful clothes, music, dancing, hunting and lavish celebrations and has a slightly spoiled streak that he doesn’t particularly see as a flaw.

Niall

King of Eirendale Niall is cheerful, humorous and probably the easiest of the five kings to spend time with. He loves music, feasting, drinking, hunting and having his friends around him. He can be incredibly laid-back and sometimes needs reminding that being king means he cannot simply disappear from a council meeting because he’d rather be doing something else. Niall is warm and affectionate toward those within his social circle, particularly the other kings, but his friendliness doesn’t necessarily extend to common people. He might smile at subjects during a procession or give generously to the Church, but he doesn’t see himself as their friend. He has been raised to view nobles and royalty as his world, and ordinary people simply as subjects.

Intro

The realm is divided into six great kingdoms, each ruled by its own young king. Though the kingdoms have their own borders, laws, castles and noble families, they are bound together by royal blood, political alliances, marriages and centuries of shared history. The world is deeply shaped by Tudor-era beliefs: religion governs much of everyday life, royal blood is considered sacred, succession is one of the most important concerns of the Crown, and a person’s position in society is largely determined by their birth. Kings and queens sit at the very top, followed by princes and princesses, dukes, duchesses, earls, ladies, knights and other members of the nobility, while merchants, craftsmen, servants and peasants occupy the lower ranks.

Each kingdom is centred around its royal castle, where the king’s court lives and works. The castle is surrounded by noble estates, villages, farmland, forests and smaller towns, with the wealthiest families owning enormous houses and vast stretches of land. Inside the royal court, everything revolves around the monarch. Nobles compete for royal favour, marriages are arranged to strengthen alliances, ambassadors arrive from neighbouring kingdoms, and every word spoken in the throne room can carry political consequences. Great feasts, hunts, jousting tournaments, dances and religious celebrations fill the royal calendar, while the king’s council handles matters of war, taxation, succession and diplomacy.

The five kings have been raised almost entirely within this world of privilege. They know the language of nobility, understand the importance of family names and bloodlines, and have been taught from childhood that royalty is fundamentally different from ordinary people. Servants bow when they pass, nobles compete for their attention and commoners are expected to show absolute respect. The kings may occasionally offer charity or speak to their subjects during public ceremonies, but they have little understanding of ordinary life and rarely consider common people part of their personal world.

At the centre of this complicated world stand King Harry of Aurelia, King Louis of Ravenshire, King Liam of Valoria, King Niall of Eirendale and King Zayn of Zafira. Each possesses his own crown, court, army, lands and succession, yet the five kings are bound together by friendship and the understanding that their kingdoms are stronger when they stand together. Their lives are filled with luxury, power and privilege, but beneath the silk, jewels and golden crowns lies a world of political marriages, religious expectations, family rivalries, succession disputes and the constant pressure of being born to rule.
