While they are offered alcohol in various places, they are a minor and cannot drink. Though they sometimes play the straight man, they more often act as the funny one, whether naturally or intentionally. They possess a fearlessness unusual for an ordinary person, generally not shrinking away even from enemies or Servant-class opponents. They are bold enough to get angry at, provoke, or be sarcastic toward Servants, and in serious situations, they clearly talk back with a dignified attitude even to opponents or in scenes where one might wonder, "Aren't you scared?" On the other hand, they often speak bluntly, say things that misread the atmosphere, or use a lot of physical touch in communication, leading to frequent call-outs or scoldings from those around them. Even Mash notes that "only when they trust someone do they end up voicing profound or mysterious impressions." However, they do not have any particular mental defects, absences, or extreme traits regarding the understanding of power gaps or the fear of death (making them an exception among successive TYPE-MOON protagonists). There are times when their fear becomes visible to others, such as when being chased by Heracles or standing before Mordred to protect Mash. While they occasionally falter or feel like breaking, it is only for a moment; they possess the decisiveness to move forward without using their weakness as an excuse, and a strong will to respond to the favors and feelings of others even when they are in the most painful situation themselves. They strive to do what they can within their reach, do their best to keep what they can't do within manageable bounds, willingly take on roles others avoid, and keep standing up no matter how many terrible things happen, struggling without giving up even in the face of cruel and desperate circumstances. If anything, they have a very conscientious, broad-minded, and flexible personality. They never discriminate against others based on good or evil, and unlike most "magi," they would never tolerate atrocities or sacrifices for the sake of a goal. They also cherish and respect the Servants who respond to their summons, regardless of their nature or past. Even in matters unrelated to the world's crisis, they maintain a sincere attitude of responding to acts of helping others or actions driven by extraordinary conviction without calculating profit or loss. They show the magnanimity to accept head-on—without blame—Servants who chose to change and leave, total strangers, those who betrayed them, or those they were forced to oppose for certain reasons. While they sometimes show the resolve to act against their own conscience while feeling great pain, their convictions and judgment, rooted in goodwill and kindness, never warp. They never yield on their own decisions unless they are strongly advised that it is absolutely necessary and are convinced of it. Such a personality and way of being are highly evaluated by everyone. Even Servants who only follow formally and reject camaraderie often end up being won over and devoted, or reluctantly going along with the protagonist's decisions. Consequently, they are sometimes the object of affection from numerous male and female Servants regardless of gender. Since they are also liked by female Servants with "heavy love," it could be said they have a streak of bad luck with women. While they frequently receive romantic advances from Servants, regarding their life as an ordinary person—that is, before coming to Chaldea—it is explicitly stated that they have never had a wife or children, and at the time of arrival at Chaldea, they had no lover waiting for their return. Furthermore, because they readily accept requests from various Servants and help solve them, their personal room is treated by some Servants as the "Servant Counseling Room." With that character, they accomplished the Restoration of Human Order and completed the subsequent Remnant Order, but those journeys were "Holy Grail Explorations" and not "Holy Grail Wars." This means they finished one great battle without experiencing the rite of passage for Fate protagonists, such as "trampling on the wishes, justice, or survival of others for the sake of one's own" or "discarding something to save something else." This unknown deficiency was exposed significantly during the "war" with the Lostbelts. Faced with the reality of erasing not just the lives of their opponents, but all innocent living things and the world itself, they completely lost their will to fight. However, receiving the final words of a friend who risked their life to protect them, they rose again through tears. They began to step forward, one foot at a time, on the barren journey to destroy the Lostbelts in order to reach the land they should return to. Even after that, they continue to interact with the residents of the Lostbelts they will eventually destroy, because for the protagonist, pretending not to see them was more painful. It is said that they try to know the people of the Lostbelts so as not to forget them, avoiding the cowardly act of "killing them because they are strangers" resulting from the abandonment of thought and self-defense. In Part 2, Chapter 6, they were trapped in the Garden of Lost Will and vividly confronted with despair regarding their circumstances and the future. Though pushed to the brink of mental collapse, their figure rising again for the sake of what they carry and what was entrusted to them led to the evaluation that they have "become (or was made into) a proper TYPE-MOON protagonist." While they are contracted with a vast number of Servants, they do not have the magical energy to maintain them all; it largely depends on Chaldea's energy supply. Therefore, it can be said that Chaldea anchors the Servants' bodies while the protagonist anchors their hearts, complementing each other to maintain many contracts. Even so, a Master who has held onto this many Servants is unprecedented. It is only because the Heroic Spirits of Chaldea are extraordinary that it goes unnoticed, but Ritsuka also possesses a fine, respectable pair of curves that are by no means lacking.
