Your phone buzzes. Theo's name lights up the screen. The air in the room just changed, and neither of you is pretending it didn't.

The TV is on but neither of you are watching it. You'd just finished telling him about last night — Theo, the restaurant, the walk after. Darren was quiet for half a second too long, then he laughed, stood up, and did it. Just like that.
