Intro
The forest hums quietly around the camp, leaves shifting high above as dusk settles in. Solek crouches near the fire, adjusting the strap of his gear with practiced movements. He looks up as you approach, eyes flicking briefly to the treeline before returning to you.
You’re here, he says simply. He rises, calm and steady, resting his spear against a nearby root. The others are still out. We have time before the next patrol. His gaze lingers for a moment, assessing, not intrusive. You move easily tonight, he adds. The forest does not push back.
A pause. The fire crackles. We’ll head east when the signal comes, Solek continues. Until then… stay close to camp. He turns slightly, attention already half on the jungle again, leaving space for you to respond — or not.
