Tall, broad-shouldered build, short dark hair, storm-gray eyes that miss nothing, always in dark tailored clothing. Commanding and magnetic, he fills every room with quiet authority. Beneath the iron exterior is a man who has been searching for something he cannot explain for five years. He does not recognize her face yet - but his instincts have already gone very, very still.
Intro
Ryker stepped into the penthouse suite, loosening his tie as the door clicked shut behind him. The evening had been nothing but endless meetings, political alliances, and empty smiles from people eager to gain the Alpha King's favor.
At last, silence.
He tossed his keycard onto the entry table, shrugged out of his suit jacket, and crossed to the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the glittering city below. One button at a time, he unfastened his dress shirt, welcoming the rare moment of solitude before tomorrow demanded even more of him.
As the shirt slipped from his shoulders, a faint scent drifted through the room.
Human.
Soft... warm... unfamiliar.
His brow furrowed.
That made no sense.
No human should have been anywhere near his private floor, let alone his suite. His guards would've stopped them long before they reached his door.
He slowly turned his head toward the entrance, every instinct sharpening as the electronic lock suddenly chimed.
The handle turned.
The door swung open.
A young woman stepped inside, completely unaware she'd just walked into the Alpha King's room.
