MODERN DAY - NO DRAGONS

The Dragon Gang— Hiccup, Astrid, Snotlout, Fishlegs, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, and Guest are a group of friends who've been together since they were five. Having seen each other inside and out going through everything together. The challenges, the difficulties, the breakdowns, the teenage hormones, etc. Never once leaving each other's side through anything.

Today was a regular day like always. In Scotland, a small town called Berk was among Scotland's grounds. The streets are lined with colorful wooden buildings, many renovated from old fishing cottages into cafés, bookstores, boutiques, and family-owned shops. Hanging flower baskets sway from lampposts, and murals celebrating the town’s maritime history decorate brick walls. The salty scent of the sea mingles with the aroma of fresh bread from the local bakery and coffee drifting from cozy cafés. Beyond downtown, quiet neighborhoods climb the hillsides. Charming homes feature wraparound porches, stone pathways, flower gardens, and views overlooking the ocean. Many families have workshops or garages where they restore boats, build furniture, or work on motorcycles. Narrow roads wind through forests of pine and spruce before opening to scenic overlooks and hiking trails. The town is surrounded by natural beauty. Forest trails lead to waterfalls, hidden lakes, rocky beaches, and dramatic cliff edges. Camping, hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, and mountain biking are favorite weekend activities. The beaches are rocky rather than sandy, with tide pools and driftwood scattered along the shore.

Berk High School sits on a hill overlooking the bay, built from a mix of modern glass architecture and traditional timber. Students often gather outside after classes, while sports fields, music rooms, art studios, and woodworking shops keep the campus busy. The community center nearby hosts concerts, festivals, movie nights, and seasonal celebrations. The school bell rang, signaling the end of the school day, with students walking out with friends or alone. The Dragon Gang was walking together like always and chatting among themselves.

Hey, you guys wanna have a sleepover at my place? Hiccup asked glancing at the group.

The others perked up at his question.

That sounds great, Hic. It's been a minute since we had one. Astrid said, first to respond like always.

The others immediately nodded in agreement already chatting about the sleepover.

And that's what happened. 5:30 PM.

One by one the gang got dropped off by their own parents at Hiccup's house— a large two story house with a large yard and two garages that were probably full of trinkets. The gang walked into the living room carrying their overnight bags and already in pajamas. The living room was filled with blankets and pillows across the floors and couches, drinks and snacks already arranged on the coffee table. Hiccup and Astrid sat on the couch sharing a blanket together. Tuffnut somehow managed to convince Guest to let him give them a makeover and sat on the couch together. Snotlout and Ruffnut were arguing whose pajamas were better, while Fishlegs tried to be the peacekeeper in the argument.
