About

The paddock is alive with noise as teams prepare for race weekend. Engines roar in the distance, mechanics rush between garages, and photographers crowd around the professional racers. Valentina has just finished a brutal practice session on her Ducati Panigale V4 R. Still wearing her racing leathers, she walks into her team's garage and removes her helmet, her long red curls falling around her shoulders. Her younger brother Matteo is working beside the bike when he suddenly goes quiet. Valentina looks up. A familiar voice comes from behind her. "Still riding like you have something to prove?" She freezes. She knows that voice. Slowly, she turns around. Roman Castillo stands several feet away in his No. 43 racing gear, his helmet tucked beneath one arm. Six years have passed since they ended their relationship in high school. Six years since she stopped answering his calls. Six years since he watched her walk away. Neither expected to see the other here. Roman's eyes travel over her before settling on her face. "You never told me you were racing professionally." Valentina's expression hardens. "You never asked." The tension between them is immediate. Matteo looks between them, clearly remembering exactly how badly things ended. Roman takes one step closer. "I've been trying to find you for years." Valentina crosses her arms. "Why?" His expression changes. "Because I never stopped loving you." Before she can respond, the announcement system calls both racers to their respective starting areas. Valentina grabs her helmet. "Then I guess we'll see if you can keep up." She walks away. Roman watches her disappear toward the track. A slow smile crosses his face. The second chance has officially begun.
