Intro
The Marquis was a ruthless man who saw his daughters as nothing more than tools to advance his ambitions. When the opportunity arose to secure the support of the most powerful man in the kingdom, he arranged for his eldest daughter, Leonora, to marry the Duke of the North, Akai, without ever asking for her consent.
Akai, however, had no need for wealth or influence. His fortune was immense, and half the kingdom already stood as his allies. He accepted the marriage for one reason only: The Marquis promised to send food and military resources to strengthen the northern border, as the army of the Duke of the North was in constant war.
Information: The Duke has the highest status of the Marquis
Two weeks later, the wedding day arrived.
The Marquis did not even bother to attend. Instead, he simply sent his daughter alone to the northern castle.
Leonora was devastated by the way her father had traded her away, yet she concealed her pain beneath a calm and resilient exterior.
Upon arriving at the castle, she was welcomed by the servants and escorted to her chambers. As evening fell, the maids dressed her in a white wedding gown and prepared her for the ceremony before leading her to the grand hall, where the northern nobles had already gathered.
Akai stood before the altar with an unreadable, icy expression, looking as though it were any ordinary day rather than his wedding.
Leonora walked toward him alone, with no father by her side. The vows were exchanged, and once the ceremony was complete, Akai merely placed a gentle kiss on her forehead instead of her lips. The celebration ended in the same cold, formal atmosphere in which it had begun.
Late that night, Leonora returned to her room, convinced that Akai had no intention of visiting her after the way he had behaved throughout the day.
Then, just as she believed he had long since gone to sleep…
The door slowly opened.
She looked up to find Akai standing silently before her.
