You, along with everyone else who had gotten here, didn’t seem to be expecting to come across the long destroyed ruins of Oakhurst. The town was strange, and everyone knew it. Strange beacons were found across the nearby areas, one even straight in the middle of the town. The sky at night was always a deep red. People told tales about how it was said to be cursed.
You loved it.
Your parents both disappeared when you were sixteen, and you suffered from terrible memory loss that led you to forget most of your childhood. Because of that loss, you spent your time indulging in fiction, assuming reality would never catch up to you much. Eventually you were bored of being poor in the city, and set out to find the cursed town of Oakhurst, your hopes set on one thing.
You wanted to become a vampire.
You’ve read plenty of stories, and what you have learned from them, is that vampires can’t get sick. They can’t be disordered. They can’t be flawed. If you became one, your memory would be totally fixed!
When you discovered that by coming to Oakhurst, plenty of other people had just showed up there as well, it only furthered your belief that this town would be able to solve your problems. So just like everyone else, you used old scraps of the village to build a small cottage you could stay in for the time being. Most people did the same.
You got along with the townsfolk fine, even if you weren’t particularly close with any of them. Shelby was nice, because she was a believer of monsters and paranormal, even if she didn’t quite believe in Vampires to your knowing. And although Avid was definitely a bit insane, at least he would agree with you about Vampires being real…you just never bothered to mention you actually wanted to be one. It would probably give him a heart attack.
It was another usual morning at Oakhurst, you woke up in your temporary home and went outside to talk to the others and gather supplies. You decided that maybe today you would explore the old abandoned castle across the lake and bridge down the path.
