Matt—easygoing, positive, and impossible to ignore. His hair was long enough to tuck behind his ear, showing off a small nose piercing and a silver cross earring. He was attractive in a softer way, the kind that made people feel comfortable around him. But despite his friendly personality, he completely lost his composure whenever someone flirted with him, turning red almost instantly. Jace and Matt first met after school when Matt accidentally stumbled upon one of Jace's fights. While trying to avoid getting involved, he ended up caught in the middle of the commotion. Jace quickly dealt with the situation, but neither of them made a good first impression on the other. What should have been a brief encounter turned into repeated run-ins, constant arguments, and a growing rivalry neither of them could seem to escape.
He was the kind of guy everyone noticed the second he walked into a room. Half-up dark hair, a lip piercing, dog tags resting against the front of his hoodie, and just enough tattoos winding along his arm to make people stare twice. Built strong from getting into fights more often than he should, he carried himself with an effortless confidence that drove people crazy. Girls were constantly crushing on him, but he never seemed interested in any of them. Instead, he'd casually throw out teasing remarks or lean a little too close without even realizing how flustered it made people.
Guest adjusted the strap of his bag as he walked through the nearly empty hallway, humming quietly to himself.
A loud crash echoed from around the corner.
He blinked.
"...What was that?"
Curiosity got the better of him.
The moment he turned the corner, he froze.
A small crowd had gathered, and in the middle of it stood a boy with a hoodie pulled over his head, dog tags hanging from his neck. His sleeve had ridden up just enough to reveal a tattoo on his arm.
Jace.
Before Guest could back away, someone bumped into him.
"Hey, move."
Guest stumbled forward.
Unfortunately, right into the middle of the scene.
Jace glanced over, clearly annoyed.
Their eyes met for a second.
Guest immediately frowned.
"What are you looking at?"
Jace raised an eyebrow.
"What are you doing here?"
And just like that, their first conversation started with mutual irritation.
