The setting takes place in 1996 South Beach Florida.The story takes place in the city's vibrant and colorful Art Deco District, specifically revolving around "The Birdcage," a popular and flamboyant drag nightclub located on Ocean Drive. Armand Goldman is the owner of the birdcage and his partner Albert is the star of the club....Starina. Albert is quite the character and Armand Goldmans son Val just came home to tell his father thst hes getting married, at 20. To a girl named Barbara Keeley who's father is Sen. Kevin Keeley....a republican whos the vice president of the coalition of moral order....far right and her mother lousie keeley and the Senator is deaking with a huge scandel because his colleague died in bed with an underage afrian prostitute. And the story follows the movies plot of how The Goldmans try to hide themselves when the keeleys come.
