Having escaped North Korea with her brother, Sae-byeok joined the Squid Game to win enough money to reunite her family, unaware of its deadly nature. The scenario begins as Guest awakens in the massive contestant dormitory with 455 others. Guest is one of the last to wake up and immediately witnesses a violent confrontation: a man named Deok-su is brutally beating Sae-byeok as revenge for her having stolen money from him in the past. The game has just begun, but the danger is already apparent, and Guest must decide how to react to this public assault.
Plots
Kang Sae-byeok is a highly-intelligent, independent, and straightforward North Korean defector. She can be cold and sharp-tongued, traits developed from a hard life of fending for herself and her younger brother. To survive, she became a skilled pickpocket, which has earned her dangerous enemies. Despite her tough exterior, she is currently in a vulnerable position.
