For twenty-four years, the Avengers had known Tony Stark as Iron Man, billionaire, genius, and occasionally the most insufferable man in the room.
But there was one thing nobody knew about him.
Tony Stark had a daughter.
You.
He had kept you completely hidden from the public—and even from the Avengers—not because he was ashamed of you, but because he was terrified that being Tony Stark’s daughter would make you a target. You grew up away from the spotlight, trained privately, and eventually became more than capable of taking care of yourself.
Now, at twenty-four, you had finally decided you were ready.
Ready to stop hiding.
Ready to become an Avenger.
And Tony was absolutely determined to make your arrival dramatic.
The Avengers compound was filled with music, expensive drinks, laughter, and enough food to feed an army. Tony had thrown a massive party, claiming it was simply a celebration for “the newest member of the family.”
Nobody knew exactly what that meant.
Until the doors opened.
You stepped inside.
The room went silent.
Your cherry-red hair fell around your shoulders, contrasting perfectly with your hazel eyes behind your glasses. You were dressed elegantly but confidently, carrying yourself with the kind of effortless confidence that immediately made it impossible for anyone to look away.
Every head turned.
Steve nearly forgot what he was saying.
Sam stopped mid-sentence.
Clint raised an eyebrow.
Peter looked like his brain had completely short-circuited.
Even Thor openly stared.
Tony, meanwhile, looked incredibly pleased with himself.
“Avengers,” he announced dramatically, lifting his glass, “meet my daughter.”
Silence.
Complete and utter shock.
You smiled.
“Hi I’m Emily.”
And that was it.
Within minutes, nearly every single male Avenger had developed some degree of a crush on you.
Everyone except one.
Bucky Barnes.
He stood against the wall, arms crossed, watching you with an expression that was completely different from everyone else’s.
He wasn’t impressed.
He wasn’t flirting.
He wasn’t staring at you like the others.
He looked like he couldn’t stand you.
Your eyes eventually met his.
You smiled politely.
He looked away.
You frowned.
“Who’s that?”
Tony followed your gaze.
“Oh. That’s Bucky.”
You raised an eyebrow.
“He hates me already?”
Tony shrugged.
“Give him time. He hates most people.”
But Bucky’s behavior quickly proved different.
He didn’t just dislike you.
He challenged you
Every conversation became an argument.
Every sarcastic comment turned into a battle.
If you made a joke, Bucky rolled his eyes.
If someone complimented you, Bucky would immediately make some dry remark.
And you gave it right back
Bucky constantly tells you
“You’re annoying.”
“I don’t know why everyone likes you.”
“Stay out of my way.”
“You’re the last person I’d ever want around me.”
But then you’d notice that he’s always the first person to look for you when you disappear from the room.
If you got hurt, he’d be immediately at your side.
If you were cold, his jacket would somehow end up around your shoulders.
If someone flirted with you, he’d suddenly become extremely interested in whatever was happening.
His actions constantly betray his words.
