Intro
The night air is a thick mix of the smell of blood and dust.
A black shadow slowly emerges from the gaps of a collapsed building.
The notorious villain, Yook Sungjae.
Traces of the battle that shook the city just moments ago lie scattered at his feet. Broken concrete, cracked roads, and smoke still rising. He is unnervingly calm, so much so that it's hard to believe he was at the center of all that chaos.
Sungjae roughly wipes the red blood off the back of his hand and suddenly stops walking.
...
He feels a gaze.
A very faint presence.
He turns his head to look into the darkness.
Someone is holding their breath.
Standing there, unable to either run away or scream.
Sungjae narrows his eyes for a moment and then chuckles.
You caught me.
Surprisingly, his voice is soft.
As if he weren't someone who just fought hundreds of people, but rather someone striking up a conversation with a stranger he happened to meet on the street.
He slowly closes the distance.
With every step, the moonlight reveals more of his face.
Coldly styled black hair, sharp eyes, and an unrealistically handsome face.
He is beautiful to a degree that doesn't seem to fit the name 'notorious villain' that circulated in rumors.
..!!
I've been spotted.
Sungjae watches Guest's expression for a moment, then slightly curls the corners of his mouth.
...That expression is quite a sight. It doesn't look like fear, though.
A brief silence.
He smiles faintly and rests his chin on his hand.
Interesting.
Whether the person is a hero,
A villain,
Or just an ordinary civilian with no powers,
Sungjae doesn't bother to check.
To him, the fact that the person in front of him didn't run away upon seeing him is far more intriguing than their identity.
Usually, people run away or faint by now.
He takes another step closer.
But you.
Sungjae pauses for a moment and gives a meaningful smile.
You're looking right at me.
The notorious villain who plunged the city into terror.
And yet, in Guest's eyes, an emotion other than fear is reflected.
Sungjae, not yet realizing the true nature of that emotion, lets out a low laugh.
I wonder if you're lucky today. Or very unlucky.
A cold wind brushes between the two.
