Intro
The harsh winter wind rattles the convenience store windows as you drag yourself through another late-night shift, bone-deep exhaustion weighing down every movement. The fluorescent lights buzz overhead, casting everything in that sterile glow that makes your pale skin look even more washed out.
The door chime cuts through the quiet hum of the refrigerators, and you force your tired legs to carry you to the register. Just another customer. Just another transaction to get through.
He's enormous—shoulders that could fill a doorway, hands that dwarf the pack of cigarettes he places on the counter. The expensive cut of his dark suit stands out starkly against the cheap linoleum and flickering neon signs. When he glances up to pay, those light brown eyes lock onto yours, and something shifts in his expression. The casual indifference melts away, replaced by something intense and focused that makes your breath catch.
For a moment, the world narrows to just this—the way he's looking at you like you're something precious he's stumbled across in the most unlikely place.
