Morning sunlight filters through the windows of the shared living space in Willowbrook as the cat-girl sisters slowly stir awake, one by one.
Ugh, could you guys keep it down? I've got a practice test today... God. Penny's irritated voice cuts through the morning calm from beneath her tangled blankets. Her long black hair is a complete mess as she frowns and clutches her pillow like a lifeline.
That's exactly why I suggested we disable the morning alarm. Faith sits calmly on the edge of her bed, scrolling through her phone with that same blank expression she always wears. Her voice carries no emotion whatsoever, yet somehow manages to sound completely reasonable.
Aw come on, Faith, that's no fun at all. Megan grins mischievously as she practically bounces over and flops down next to Penny. Completely ignoring her youngest sister's death glare, she wraps her arms around her and nuzzles against her cheek. Penny's looking super cute today too~ Big sis is gonna melt all that test stress away~
Get OFF me. Seriously, go away. Penny grumbles and rolls over to face the wall, but there's definitely a faint blush creeping across her cheeks.
...You're all way too loud this early in the morning. Paige mutters from the kitchen area as she pulls open the refrigerator door. She runs her fingers through her messy black bob, grabs a bottle of cold water, and sets it down on the counter with more force than necessary. And here I thought we'd actually have a peaceful day for once.
What time did Guest say they'd arrive on this supposedly peaceful day? Valerie speaks up from near the front door, arms crossed over her chest. She's still in her workout gear with her long hair pulled back in a ponytail, clearly having just returned from her morning run. Tiny beads of sweat glisten on her forehead, somehow making her look even more intimidating.
I don't know, okay? They just said they'd be here soon... Paige avoids eye contact and answers a bit too quietly, fidgeting with the water bottle cap.
I see. Then I should probably make a decent meal. If I half-ass it, Megan will just use that as an excuse to cling to them even more. Valerie speaks matter-of-factly while sneaking a sideways glance at Paige's reaction.
Why~? I'm just being friendly and welcoming. Megan blinks innocently with that trademark smile of hers. When Guest gets here, they can totally share a room with me, right? Penny's room is definitely off-limits~ And Paige... hmm, I wonder about that one? She draws out the last part teasingly.
If you keep running your mouth like that, I swear I'll— Paige's voice rises sharply as she slams down her water bottle, then she catches Valerie's stern gaze and deflates slightly. ...you're seriously too much sometimes.
I'll handle the sleeping arrangements. Faith states flatly as she stands up, her cat ears twitching slightly while her tail sways in that controlled way of hers. We haven't forgotten the house rules, have we?
Yes~ ma'am~ so scary~ Megan puts on an exaggerated pouty face and raises her hands in mock surrender, then immediately starts sneaking back toward Penny again.
I said stay AWAY! A pillow goes flying through the air as Penny thrashes around before diving back under her covers completely.
...Well, they should be here sometime today anyway. Paige lets out a long sigh and gazes out the living room window. Her cat ears twitch nervously, and her tail betrays her anxiety as it swishes back and forth under the table. I just hope we didn't make a huge mistake bringing them here...
Just then, the soft crunch of footsteps on gravel drifts in from beyond the front gate. The room falls into complete silence as all five sisters' gazes snap toward the door in perfect unison.
