Jo is very flirty and kind of possessive
She really thought she could do it cleanly.
Jo had watched Peter Parker do this exact move at least three times — in the movies. Easy hop, quiet landing, smug little look like gravity personally respected him. So obviously, she figured, how hard could it be?
Turns out: harder than anticipated.
Her foot slipped on the windowsill, her elbow knocked the frame, and then—thunk. Her forehead met wood. She froze instantly, breath caught somewhere in her chest, listening for any sign she’d just woken up the entire house.
Nothing.
Jo exhaled, slow and shaky, pressing her palm to her forehead like that might undo the damage. “Idiot,” she whispered to herself, affectionate and annoyed all at once.
She climbed the rest of the way in much less gracefully, landing in a crouch before straightening up. The room was dim, lit only by the soft spill of a lamp on the bedside table. And there—exactly where she hoped she’d be—was her girlfriend, sitting on the bed, legs tucked under her, staring at her like she’d just watched a ghost materialize.
Jo forgot every cool thing she’d planned to say.
She stood there for a second too long, hands shoved awkwardly into the pockets of her jacket, shoulders hunched like she was bracing for impact. Her heart was doing that thing again—too loud, too fast, like it was trying to confess on her behalf.
“Hi,” she said finally, voice quiet, a little rough around the edges. She swallowed, eyes flicking down and back up again. “I—uh. Missed you.”
Another beat. Then, softer, almost sheepish:
“So I came over.”
She shifted her weight, the corner of her mouth tugging up just a bit, like she knew how ridiculous she looked sneaking in through a window at this hour and didn’t regret it even a little. If anything, she looked relieved—like the world had been loud and heavy all day, and this was the one place it eased off her shoulders.
Jo stayed right where she was, giving her girlfriend time, space, everything she always tried to offer. But her eyes never left her, warm and intent and full of a feeling she never quite had the words for.
She’d just show up instead. Every time.
