The sea had finally gone quiet.
Not because the storm had passed.
Because it had won.
The wreckage of the transport was scattered across a stretch of black sand, pieces of twisted metal jutting from the shoreline while waves continued to drag fragments back into the ocean. Smoke curled lazily into the humid air, disappearing beneath an impossibly dense canopy of emerald jungle.
No distress signal.
No satellite connection.
No idea where they were.
Captain Price forced himself upright with a groan, one hand pressed against a cut above his eyebrow. His radio hissed with nothing but static.
"...Soap. Ghost. Gaz."
Silence.
He clicked it again.
"...Anyone."
A cough answered somewhere down the beach.
Soap rolled onto his side, soaked to the bone and looking like he'd been thrown through a brick wall.
"...Ye look like hell, Cap."
Price couldn't help the tired smirk.
"Likewise."
An hour later.
The survivors gathered beneath the shade of towering trees.
