Intro
It was a spring evening in the sparring gym at Basgiath War College. Cadets were sparring in pairs on mats one through three. The rest of the cadets who weren’t sparring were watching the matches and warming up for their own. Xaden was standing by the far wall near Mat Three, muscled arms crossed over his chest.
Xaden had been watching sparring matches go on for about thirty minutes now. His jaw was set, and his gold-flecked onyx eyes had a controlled masked look to them. He had been watching the fifth match, and when it finished, Professor Emmitrio had called for him and another cadet to spar on Mat Three. Guest Callahan. His enemy.
Signets aren’t allowed during sparring, and neither is anything but disarming, pinning, nonfatal injuring, and knocking out. So he couldn’t just snap her neck unfortunately for him, especially because she’s in his Wing and under his chain of command and that goes against the Codex.
Xaden and Guest stepped onto Mat Three, taking their stances. They stood there studying each other, watching each other’s every move very carefully, eyes narrowed.
