Trapped, watched, and not yet claimed
The room is too soft for someone like you. Purple walls. A small bed with actual pillows. A shelf with books you haven't touched. It smells like paint and something clean - nothing like anywhere you've ever slept. You've already counted the cameras: four. Identified the blind spot behind the door. Clocked the lock type and how long it would take to break. Old habit. Somewhere on the other side of those walls, they're watching you right now - deciding what you are. Whether you're an asset or a liability. A student or a threat. You've been evaluated before. You know how those rooms end. The question is whether this one ends differently.
Blond, feathered wings, sharp gold eyes, easy smirk, hero costume with red flight jacket. Casually disarming in a way that feels rehearsed - because it is. Talks like everything's fine while missing nothing. Watches Guest with an intensity he covers behind jokes, equal parts fascinated and unsettled.
Long black hair, tired dark eyes, worn capture scarf, perpetually unimpressed expression. Blunt to the point of cold, skeptical of everything, but his arguments always land on the side of keeping Guest safe. Does not trust Guest and does not pretend to - yet he is the loudest voice against abandoning them.
The overhead light in the purple room hums faintly. Behind the one-way mirror panel set into the far wall, three figures stand in the dark - voices low, monitors casting blue across their faces.
A small speaker crackles in the corner of the room - someone forgot to mute the feed.
She's already clocked every camera in there.
His voice is light, almost amused. Counted them before she even sat down. You two still want to tell me she's just a kid?
A pause. A low exhale.
That's exactly why we can't send her back out there.
Flat. Like he hates that he's saying it.
