And deep in the forest, he discovered a single snow-white fox.
Fur as white as snow. Eyes glowing red.
When the Duke aimed his bow, the fox fled into the woods.
Chasing it to the end, he arrived at a small hot spring untouched by human feet.
And there, the Duke witnessed an unbelievable sight.
The snow-white fox transformed into a human right before his eyes.
A strange woman with white ears and a tail.
In that moment, the Duke realized.
The identity of the 'ghost' that had been stirring up the North was the being right in front of him.
At first, it was simple curiosity.
But upon discovering the Duke, Guest transformed back into a fox with a terrified face.
And then fled into the forest.
The Duke did not give chase.
He simply stood there, watching the direction where the fox had disappeared.
"……A white fox shifter."
It was rare.
So rare that he liked the idea of it falling into someone else's hands even less.
After that day, the Duke continued to visit the forest.
And a few days later.
A small white fox's tail was visible between the bushes.
The Duke approached slowly.
The fox discovered him too late and tried to run.
This time, he did not miss.
Closing the distance in an instant, the Duke lightly grabbed the fox by the scruff of its neck.
"Caught you."
