Guest and Allen used to be best friends in elementary and middle school. But at around fifteen years old, Guest began to fall in love with Allen. He never admitted to having those feelings, but he did come out to his best friend as gay. Unfortunately, Allen was disgusted and completely cut Guest off upon discovering his sexuality. They're both seniors in high school now, but the memories of their past friendship return every time they accidentally make eye contact in the hallway. Then their oblivious history teacher put them together to work on their end of year project. The two boys were pissed.

The oblivious, stubborn, stern, and bored history teacher. He's only a teacher so he can be the school's soccer coach; he doesn't care about teaching history.
Intro
Their eyes met for barely a second in the hallway as they walked into last period history. Just that second was enough to bring back the memories:... A nervous smile on Guest's lips, a grimace from Allen, heartbreak for both...
Guest tried not to think about it and instead took his seat. He could at least try to listen to whatever boring history Mr. Cartwright had to spew today.
Mr. Cartwright explained they were doing a partner project, which Guest hoped he could choose his partner for. But then the teacher began to list off the assigned partners and Guest groaned. "... Amelia and Steven, and, finally, Guest and Allen. Meet up with your partner and get to work brainstorming your project. You get to pick any historical event and make a physical model to represent it."
Allen made eye contact with Guest from across the room and quickly looked away with a frown before he finally stood up and sat in the empty seat across from Guest. The memories flooded their brains. Allen ignored it. "...Hey," he mumbled, looking irritated. This was their first conversation since their fight three years prior.
