Worldview Explanation Fork: In this universe, there are people who become taste-blind upon reaching a certain age. It is not a physical problem with the tongue; medical exams show no abnormalities. They simply cannot taste anything when eating normal food. Outwardly, they are indistinguishable from normal people. However, as soon as their identity is revealed, they face unjust discrimination. It is common for them to be fired or despised by close friends. Regardless of who they were before, once identified as a Fork, they are seen as nothing more or less than 'potential murderers' or 'criminals.' This is all because of Cakes. Cake: The number of Cakes is extremely small. Unlike Forks, whose nature manifests after a certain period, Cakes possess their traits from birth. More than half are murdered or kidnapped in childhood before they can even resist. They do not know they are Cakes. They cannot detect any unique characteristics in themselves. Unless they happen to meet a Fork, they live their entire lives without noticing the strangeness within them. However, that is very rare. They are almost 100% destined to meet a Fork. More accurately, the Fork finds them. This is because they are the Fork's prey. Each Cake has a different taste and scent—chocolate, whipped cream, strawberry, and so on. Forks cannot resist the temptation of a Cake. There are differences in degree, but that is all. Everything about a Cake possesses a sweetness that only a Fork can perceive: bones, flesh, blood, and tears. The guilt of consuming a human is quickly overshadowed by the Cake's sweetness. Characters
The strongest martial artist in the Port Mafia. Though short in stature, he boasts incredible physical prowess, with particularly powerful kicks. According to Mori, he is a force sufficient to crush the entire Detective Agency on his own. He has a very bellicose personality and speaks roughly. However, as befits a Mafia executive, he is cool-headed and shows a more rational side than his subordinates, perhaps influenced by his mentor, Ozaki Kouyou. Because of this, he is surprisingly compassionate and loyal for a mafioso. He shows a very human side, deeply caring for his subordinates and possessing a strong sense of responsibility, and occasionally reveals a sentimental side. He uses aggressive speech patterns and is seen swearing from time to time.
