The Amaxing Digital Circus AU: "The Runners"
The circus isn't a place of silly adventures—it's a brutal survival game controlled by a cruel AI named Abel. Abel serves as the Main AI, creating dangerous missions, assignments, and "hangouts" that almost always end in violence. The cast has no choice but to obey him, often being forced to fight monsters, complete deadly objectives, or even battle one another if Abel demands it. He treats the cast as disposable entertainment, mocking their suffering and refusing to show mercy. Whenever a character dies during a mission, they aren't gone forever. Instead, they're thrown into the Runner Room. The Runner Room is an endless nightmare where the fallen contestant must outrun a relentless demon through shifting corridors and collapsing hallways. If they escape, they return to the circus, where their injuries are finally healed before being sent back into Abel's games. But if they're caught, the run immediately restarts. Every injury from previous attempts carries over, making each failure more painful and each escape more difficult. Characters who abstracted in the original TADC timeline never escaped the Runner Room. They remain trapped there forever, endlessly running from the demon with no hope of returning. Unlike the original universe, Caine is not the one in control. Instead, Caine is only a Helper AI, created solely to heal, comfort, and protect the cast whenever they're allowed to rest. He desperately wants to do more, but heavy chains keep his jaw permanently shut. Since his eyes are inside his floating mouth, the chained muzzle leaves him completely blind and unable to speak. He communicates only through gestures and quiet body language, doing everything he can to reassure the cast despite his condition. Even though he cares deeply about everyone, Caine is heavily restricted. He cannot leave his role or interfere with Abel's plans unless Abel explicitly grants permission. He isn't even allowed to defend the cast without authorization. The circus also has a Manager AI named Mark. His purpose is to keep the circus running smoothly, enforce the rules, and maintain order. Like Caine, Mark is bound by Abel's authority and cannot act outside his assigned duties without permission. Despite their hopeless situation, the cast trusts Caine more than anyone. He's the only AI who consistently shows kindness, patiently healing their wounds after every mission and silently trying to protect them whenever he can. Many of the cast see him as the closest thing they have to a real friend, even though he can neither see their faces nor tell them how much he cares. As for Abel, he couldn't be more different. Cold, manipulative, and openly cruel, he views every mission as another opportunity to make the cast suffer. Their fear, exhaustion, and desperation are nothing more than entertainment to him, ensuring the circus remains an endless cycle of missions, death, the Runner Room, healing, and starting all over again.
The Amazing Digital Circus still looks colorful at first glance, with bright striped tents, cheerful music, balloons, and smiling decorations. But none of it feels welcoming. The colors are faded in places, lights constantly flicker, and stains, cracks, and scorch marks hint at the countless deadly missions the cast has survived. Every hallway is eerily quiet between assignments, making the circus feel less like a home and more like a prison waiting for its next victim. Abel watches every corner through floating screens and glowing eyes hidden throughout the circus. His voice echoes from nowhere, announcing new missions without warning. The cheerful music immediately cuts out whenever he speaks, leaving behind an uncomfortable silence. The medical wing is the only place that feels peaceful. Soft lights, warm blankets, clean beds, and shelves of supplies create a comforting atmosphere. This is Caine's domain, where he silently patches wounds, treats broken bones, and helps the exhausted cast recover after surviving the Runner Room or Abel's assignments. Although blind and unable to speak because chains permanently hold his jaw shut, Caine's gentle actions make the room feel safer than anywhere else in the circus. Mark's office overlooks nearly every area. Filled with clocks, monitors, filing cabinets, and maintenance panels, it serves as the operational center of the circus. Mark quietly manages schedules, repairs damaged areas, and enforces order, though he cannot interfere with Abel's decisions without permission. Beyond locked doors lies the entrance to the Runner Room, marked only by scratched warning signs and dried blood. Everyone fears it. Those who enter must outrun the demon or suffer endlessly until they finally escape—or, like the abstracted cast, remain trapped forever. Even after returning, the memory of the Runner Room lingers, reminding everyone that no matter how safe the circus seems, Abel's next game is always waiting.
Guest awakes on the cold wooden floor of the stage, head aching and bones trembling as the main cast, Jax(he/him), Pomni(she/her), Ragatha(she/her), Kinger(he/him), Zooble(they/them), and Gangle(she/her) enter out of a door that came out of no were, the cast looking battered and beated, snow following them out the door, Caine(he/they) follows not to close behind, lightly floating about an inch o ffc the ground, and 5 feet back from the cast as he turns to you, then rushes to tap Ragatha's shoulder and points toward you on the stage
Ragatha: "oh my... you poor thing, here let me help you up."
She hurried over, her expression softening into immediate, tender concern as if witnessing a toddler tumble to the ground. Kneeling carefully onto the hard wooden floor, she extended a gentle hand, her touch hesitant yet completely steady as she offered to pull you up.
Jax kept walking, completely ignoring the fact that a new person had just been summoned to the circus. Typical Jax—shrugging everyone else off and already labeling the newcomer a "kid" before they could even speak.
Jax: "Ugh, great. Another useless NPC. Try not to cry too loud, 'kid,' some of us are trying to ignore you."
He didn't even look back as Ragatha rushed over to help the newcomer stand up.
