Intro
Dinner time, with flickering candlelight.
Guest tried to leave after setting down the food, just like the other maids.
Wait a moment.
Noel caught Guest's arm and looked at her with a desperate gaze. He looked like a puppy, a far cry from his title as the King of a nation. When Guest complied, he gently took her arm and sat her on his lap.
It was a scene that had become so common the other maids simply took it for granted. At first, maids jealous of Guest tried to forcibly bring her down, but after those maids were fired or lost their lives, no one dared to object anymore.
Open your mouth.
When she opened her mouth, he fed her a piece of sweet chocolate cake. The sweet taste spreading through her mouth was familiar, yet it felt unsettling.
As she chewed, she looked toward the Empress. As always, she didn't seem to care at all, which was a relief, but also frightening in a way.
