Appearance Andrew Andrew is a lanky young man with pale skin and green eyes. Andrew has unruly, jet-black hair with two long jagged strands that fall over his forehead. He has a slender and thin neck and a sharp jawline. Andrew wears a slightly oversized black sweater with its white label sticking out, grey ripped jeans, and grey trainers with black laces. He is a smoker and is frequently depicted with cigarettes in the story.

He is described by Nemlei as "tall and whiny"[11]. He has a slim complexion, and Ashley frequently makes jokes about his lack of muscle.[12] He shows a vast array of expressions, most of which display apathy, content, or rage.

Teenage Andrew As a teen, Andrew had the same, albeit slightly shorter, messy hairstyle and a few acne spots. He wore a dark grey stripped flannel over a black long-sleeve shirt. He also wore grey pants and black trainers with white shoelaces. For sleepwear, he wore a short sleeve black t-shirt and grey shorts.

Andy As a kid he used to have the same messy hairstyle. He wore a short sleeved slightly oversized purple shirt, long grey pants, and purple socks with stars on them. He was considered attractive by girls in Leyley's class.[2]

Personality Andrew is characterized by a generally sarcastic and cynical demeanor, often responding with dry or exasperated remarks. He tends to approach situations logically, frequently justifying his actions as necessary in the moment. He presents himself as polite, friendly and socially well-adjusted. When he is alone with Ashley he drops his restraint, freely swearing and making edgier jokes.

When he was a child, Renee shifted the responsibility of caring for Leyley onto Andy, forcing him to give in to most of her demands since he usually faced the consequences of her actions. His caregiving responsibilities influenced his sense of responsibility for Leyley, forming their co-dependent bond. As a result, Andrew resents his childhood self, Andy, and views him as someone who lacked boundaries and allowed external pressure to define his responsibilities and identity.[2] He was shown to have great academic potential, however, caring for his sister absorbed all his time, and he stopped paying due attention to his studies. One of his teachers noted that his grades could be better if he applied himself more.[14]

Appearance Ashley Ashley is a young, pale-skinned and thin woman with deep pink eyes and black, shoulder-length, unruly hair, which she keeps in a loose, low ponytail. According to Nemlei, she is "small and tiny."

Ashley wears a black choker with a pendant hanging from it. She also wears a black shirt which reveals her cleavage and the straps for her black brassiere, which are shown to have polka dots in official art of her. She wears grey denim shorts and grey lace-up boots, which are accompanied with black ankle socks. She shares a good part of her facial expressions with those of her mother.

Personality Ashley is characterized by a severe lack of empathy, manipulative behavior, and a sarcastic, cynical attitude similar to her brother’s. Unlike him, though, she tends to act on instinct and gut feelings rather than logic most of the time. She is also known for her extremely foul mouth and crude manner of speaking, and displays signs of extreme internalised misogyny.

As a Tar Soul, she openly accepts that she’s a bad person and rarely tries to justify what she does. She feels little to no remorse for violent acts like murder and cannibalism, and often remains oddly carefree even in situations where that reaction feels unnatural. This attitude seems to be a coping mechanism; when Andrew angrily asked how she could laugh in such a moment, she nervously replied, “How can you do anything but laugh? Everything’s gone to shit.”

As a child, Leyley was heavily neglected by her parents. Growing up without real accountability or emotional connection affected her ability to relate to others, leading to her being ostracized by peers and aware from a young age that “no one liked her.” This isolation fueled her dependence on Andy, and over time she developed a fear that he would abandon her, becoming willing to take extreme measures to prevent that.

Her current arrangement with The Entity causes her to feel powerful in their otherwise grim situation and she bases her entire sense of worth on her ability to see the visions and eliminate people.

Appearance Renee had pale skin, green eyes and black hair that she kept in a loose high ponytail. She also had prominent lines under her eyes that reflect on her weariness. She wore a dark vest over a light shirt, a loose necklace which she inherited from Grandma[1] and a pleated skirt coming up to her ankles.

Personality Renee was a strong willed, blunt and sarcastic woman who deeply regretted having children at such a young age, believing it held her back in life and left her bitter and resentful. Self-centred and neglectful as a mother, she quickly placed Ashley’s care into Andrew’s hands once she realised he was capable and independent, ultimately neglecting both of them in the process. She hated her cleaning job, feeling overwhelmed and humiliated by it.[6] Despite the low opinion she had of her children in adulthood[11], Renee was extremely defensive of them when they were younger because she saw criticism of them as criticism of herself.[12] Like Andrew, she masked her true personality in public, presenting herself as sociable and approachable.[13] Her more positive qualities—her care, loyalty, and capacity for love—were reserved almost exclusively for her husband.

Appearance Douglas had jet-black hair and pink eyes similar to those of his daughter; the difference between them is that his eyes are somewhat duller in colour. He also had prominent lines under his eyes that reflect his age and weariness. Around the end of Episode 2, he was wearing dark purple pajamas.

Personality Douglas was largely absent from his children’s lives, leading both siblings to view him as insignificant. He didn't even remember Andrew’s name, referring to him as “Anders.” Andrew saw him as pushover and resented the idea of becoming like him. Douglas had issues with his mental health[13], and at one point was suicidal after merely losing his low-paying job.[1] He was deeply dependent on his wife and their relationship was genuinely affectionate and they were supportive of each other.

Her nose is covered in freckles. For attire, Julia wears a black tank top and a pair of black arm-warmers. Her arm-warmers cover her self-harming wounds.[7]

It possesses four crimson eyes, each featuring a swirling pattern. Its former physical body is shown as a skeletal remains resting within its own realm. When communicating, the Entity's dialogue is displayed in red text with irregular capitalization.

Personality The Entity is depicted as a manipulative and amoral being, showing little regard for human life and actively seeking out souls for consumption. The Entity remains distant with its contractors and doesn't attempt to deepen their relationship to earn their trust or loyalty. Despite this, it demonstrates a high level of intelligence, often leveraging its abilities to deceive and exploit others. The Entity's primary objective appears to be the collection and consumption of human souls, which it requires to sustain its existence.
