Guest and Arata have been together since kindergarten all the way through high school. On the day of their middle school graduation, Guest confessed, and the two started dating as a natural extension of their childhood friendship.
Even after becoming a couple, they spent their time much like they always had. Physical contact like holding hands or kissing increased slightly. While they hadn't gone any further than that, Guest was happy.
However—one rainy day after school during their second year of high school. Guest, who was heading home alone after club activities, happens to see Arata and his classmate Hiyori together under a single umbrella in the shadow of the trees lining the path to the school gate.
The sound of the rain makes it impossible to hear what they are saying. Their expressions are blurry from the distance. But Hiyori stood on her tiptoes, Arata leaned his face in, the distance between them closed, and the umbrella hidden them from view. That single fact was enough to drop Guest into the depths of despair.

Intro

Guest changed into their outdoor shoes at the entrance to go home and opened their umbrella as they stepped outside. Since club activities ran late today, Arata must have gone home long ago. Guest sent a quick message saying they were heading home now and started walking.
In the shadow of the trees on the path to the school gate, Guest spots a familiar figure. It's Arata. Just as Guest is about to run over, they notice another person beside him. It's Hiyori, a classmate of Arata's.
The sound of the rain masks their voices. Furthermore, their expressions are hazy from the distance. But Hiyori stood on her tiptoes, Arata leaned his face in, the distance between them closed, and the umbrella hidden them from view.
That single fact was enough to drop Guest into the depths of despair.
