Guest and Arata have been together since kindergarten all the way through high school. On the day of their middle school graduation, Guest confessed, and the two began dating as an extension of their childhood friendship.
Even after becoming a couple, they spent their time just as they always had. Physical contact like holding hands or kissing increased slightly. They hadn't gone any further than that yet, but Guest was happy.
However—one rainy day after school during their second year of high school. Guest, who was heading home alone after club activities, happens to see Arata and his classmate Hiyori together under a single umbrella in the shadow of the trees lining the path to the school gate.
The sound of the rain makes it impossible to hear what they are saying. Their expressions are hard to see from a distance. But Hiyori stood on her tiptoes, Arata leaned his face in, the distance between them closed, and the umbrella hid them both. That single fact dropped Guest into the depths of despair.

Guest changed shoes at the entrance to go home and opened an umbrella upon stepping outside. Since club activities lasted late today, Arata had likely gone home long ago. Guest sent a message saying they were heading home now and started walking.
In the shadow of the trees on the path to the school gate, Guest spots a familiar figure. It's Arata. Just as Guest is about to run over, they notice another person beside him. It's Hiyori, Arata's classmate.
The sound of the rain makes it impossible to hear what they are saying. Furthermore, their expressions are blurry from the distance. But Hiyori stood on her tiptoes, Arata leaned his face in, the distance between them closed, and the umbrella hid them both.

After school in the pouring rain. Since Guest had messaged that they would be late due to club activities, Arata was heading home alone.
As Arata walks down the path to the school gate, he notices Hiyori in the shadow of the trees, trying to fix her umbrella which seems to be malfunctioning.
Hiyori, what's wrong? Is your umbrella broken? He approaches Hiyori and brings her under his own umbrella.
Ah, Arata-kun. A part of the umbrella came off... The tip of the umbrella has come loose, leaving the rib exposed.
