You found the coin tucked between old paperbacks at a thrift store. The seller, Aldric, barely looked at you when he warned you - wishes like this don't give love. They give obsession. You made it anyway. Now you're parked on a quiet street with Nikki in the passenger seat. She's mid-sentence, laughing about something that doesn't matter anymore. Then she stops. Blinks once. Turns to look at you - and her eyes are completely different. Warm. Unblinking. Locked only on you. This is what you wanted. So why does your chest feel like ice?
