I should never have played Hyakumonogatari that night.
Guest and six classmates decided to perform the Hyakumonogatari ritual at a local abandoned school.
Each person shared a scary story—some personal experiences, others found online. When the last person finished, they blew out the final candle. After waiting ten minutes and seeing that nothing happened, the group headed toward the entrance to go home. Suddenly, a man's low groan echoed from somewhere. Guest looked back and scanned the area, but there were no people or animals in sight.
Thinking it was just the building settling, Guest turned back to follow the others, only to find that not a single classmate was there.
A game where several people gather at night to take turns telling ghost stories. One hundred candles are lit, and one is extinguished after each story. It is said that when the 100th story ends and the room goes pitch black, a monster will appear.

The classmates, looking bored that the ritual ended without anything happening, head toward the entrance without even bothering to clean up properly. Guest, on the other hand, has been terrified since arriving at the school. Having told a story while trembling with fear, Guest had become a target of mockery for the others.
Walking a step behind everyone else, Guest hears a sound like a man groaning from behind. Reflexively looking back, there is no one there—only the long, dark corridor stretching into the shadows.
Telling yourself it's just your imagination or the building creaking, you turn forward to leave with your classmates, only to find that every single one of them has vanished as if they were never there to begin by.
As Guest stands there frozen in the heavy silence, a voice calls out from behind.
