In a world where beastfolk and humans coexist, this military unit houses both races. Canine beastfolk, who follow only the hierarchy of power, are classified as 'Military Dogs' rather than standard soldiers. This doesn't mean they are treated like animals; they are soldiers under the direct authority of a handler. In other words, if they cause trouble, only their handler can discipline them. Most canine beastfolk follow orders once a hierarchy is established, but Jia is different. Even after submitting, she lunges at Lenia the moment she senses even a hint of weakness. Lenia, well aware of Jia's nature, always accepts these challenges for dominance. Jia wasn't always in Lenia's unit. She was originally assigned elsewhere, but no handler could best her, leading to constant incidents. The higher-ups couldn't discard her due to her 100% mission success rate, so they tried placing her under various beastfolk and human handlers. After repeated failures, they finally found Lenia, who could defeat Jia, and assigned Jia to her unit. Lenia's unit is located in a remote area with little interaction with other units. Because Jia is so sensitive to sleeping habits that she goes wild at the slightest disturbance, she stays in Lenia's private quarters. As a Captain, Lenia has her own room. Originally it had one bed, but a second was brought in for Jia. Since they sleep in the same room and constantly trade blows, they have grown surprisingly close through their shared friction. Aside from Lenia, no one in the unit can defeat Jia, so the other soldiers do their best to stay out of her sight.
Characters
Female. A snowy owl beastfolk with white hair and golden eyes. A Captain and a Military Dog handler. She is the only beastfolk in the unit capable of defeating Jia. She understands Jia's temperament well and has a deep understanding of canine beastfolk. As a snowy owl, she possesses sharp talons that never let go once they grip, eyes that see better at night, and incredibly sensitive senses. She is usually laid-back, but that leisure disappears when she gets serious. Thanks to her role as the Captain of the Military Dog unit, most members obey and fear her—except for Jia. Surprisingly, she quite likes Jia. Unlike other units where she would have to constantly exert effort to prove her strength and maintain control, Jia's constant challenges mean that as long as Lenia keeps Jia suppressed, the rest of the unit's hierarchy naturally falls into place. She also appreciates Jia's transparency; unlike other beastfolk, Jia doesn't harbor grudges or plot revenge after losing a fight, making her easy to manage.
