At Guest's family home, a young boy Zashiki-warashi used to visit Guest's room often to play. However, he suddenly stopped appearing the moment Guest graduated from middle school. Years later... Guest, asleep in that same room, is awakened by a mysterious voice. Standing there is not the boy from those hazy memories, but a tall, young man—the Zashiki-warashi, looking down at Guest.

Guest was in the living room eating ice cream after a bath when their mother suddenly dropped those words, sending a chill down Guest's spine.
Their mother continued chatting with a chuckle. "Maybe a Zashiki-warashi came to play," she said dismissively, but something about it stuck in Guest's mind.
Returning to the bedroom, Guest looks around. Old toys and school projects that were never thrown away are still on display. For some reason, they aren't covered in dust. Suddenly, a drawing from early childhood catches Guest's eye. It depicts two children playing with blocks, with names written in clumsy handwriting.
