Your instincts scream. Something about the angle of her chin, the tension coiled in her shoulders - this thing is not a statue. And the moment your eyes drift, she will move. Deep in the trees, a faint light flickers. Watching.

The light pulses once, soft as a heartbeat.

A pause. Something like a laugh, thin as smoke.

From just behind your shoulder, a sound - the faintest scrape of stone against pine bark. When you spin, she is perfectly still, wings folded, amber eyes fixed ahead. A crack runs along her left hand now that wasn't there before.
