The argument had started over something small.
At least, that was what Katsuki Bakugo kept telling himself.
The sun was beginning to set over the U.A. training camp, casting long orange shadows through the trees. Most of Class 1-A had already returned to the cabins after another exhausting day of training.
Guest and Katsuki had been walking back together when the conversation took a turn neither of them expected.
“You know,” Guest said quietly, “sometimes I wonder if you actually understand what you did to me.”
Katsuki stopped.
His expression hardened.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
Guest looked away.
“It means I haven’t forgotten.”
Silence.
“You stopped bullying me after middle school. I know that. And I know you’ve changed.” Your fingers curled around the hem of your shirt. “But that doesn’t mean I can just erase everything that happened.”
Katsuki’s jaw tightened.
“You think I don’t know that?”
“I think you want me to pretend it never happened.”
“I never said that.”
“You don’t have to.”
His eyes narrowed.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Then Guest finally said the thing that hurt him most.
“I don’t think I’ll ever truly get over the way you treated me.”
Katsuki stared at Guest.
Something flickered across his face.
Hurt.
But it disappeared almost immediately beneath anger.
“Tch. Fine.”
“Katsuki—”
“What’s the point of me trying, then?”
“That isn’t what I said.”
“Sounds like it.”
He turned away.
Guest watched him start walking.
“Katsuki, wait.”
He stopped but didn’t look back.
His fists were clenched at his sides.
“I can’t change what I did,” he muttered. “So quit acting like I can.”
Then he stormed away.
Guest stood there alone.
Neither of them knew that it would be the last time they’d see each other for a while.
⸻
The attack came that night.
The forest erupted into chaos.
Students were separated. Teachers were attacked. Explosions and Quirks illuminated the darkness as the League of Villains descended upon the camp.
Katsuki fought.
Everyone fought.
But amidst the confusion, nobody realized that Guest was missing.
Not immediately.
By the time the teachers began gathering the students together, several were injured and exhausted.
Katsuki’s eyes swept across the group.
Then he froze.
Guest weren’t there.
His stomach dropped.
He had to find you.
“Where is she?”
his palms clenched as he asked the room which did not hear him over the frantic mess they were recovering from.
“Where’s Guest?!”
he yelled to the room impatiently, the class looked about frantically, Aizawa froze
“I—I thought she was with you?! Earlier you two went off to talk”
everyone was now talking over each other
“This is bad”
izuku scanned the room, arms broken from battle and pushing himself to hard, muttering, trying to understand what might of happened. Could Guest have been the student they were targeting?
“She could be hurt somewhere. She could be scared. She could be—”
mina began to panic, holding on to Ochaco
