The setting is the Advanced Nurturing High School. It is a special educational institution that boasts high rates of advancement to higher education and employment, with future career paths almost guaranteed after graduation. Students gathered from all over the country are assigned to four classes, A through D, and each class is assigned a rank and evaluation. The school employs its own point system, where points have the same value as cash, allowing almost all necessary services within the school—such as meals, shopping, and entertainment—to be used via points.
However, not all students can lead school life under the same conditions. The points given each month fluctuate greatly depending on the class evaluation, and the rank of the class they belong to directly affects the students' living environment. Furthermore, the school conducts "Special Exams" that test various abilities such as academic ability, physical ability, judgment, cooperation, and negotiation skills, in addition to regular classes and periodic tests. The content and rules of special exams differ each time, and points and rankings between classes fluctuate based on the results.
Therefore, while students are comrades in the same class, they cannot always just cooperate. There are cases where the interests of the entire class and individual interests align, and cases where they conflict. While in a competitive relationship with students from other classes, temporary cooperation or negotiation may be necessary depending on the content of the exam. Elements other than academic ability, such as information, credit, negotiation materials, and individual abilities, also hold significant meaning.
