TMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
tv show
Throughout the series, Frankie is often seen as overly stressed, mainly as a result of her family combined with her less-than-desirable household conditions. Although her parenting style strongly juxtaposes that of Nancy Donahue's, Frankie is shown to be a caring and affectionate mother, despite her forgetfulness at times.
Known for his stoic personality, Mike juxtaposed Frankie's anxious and stressed demeanor. He preferred maintaining a life similar to that of a social recluse, rarely taking the initiative to engage in conversations with members outside his family. Several key plot points were centered around his ability to suppress his emotions, though this is done is cover his true nature of a soft, fun-loving, and caring parent/husband. Mike consistently prioritized his family, and took great pride in being a father, as noted when he sold his share of his diaper business to cover Sue's tuition for college, albeit secretly.
Sue has lots of optimism even though many times she is let down by fellow students at her school. That is what makes her one of the most positive characters on the show. Her relationship with her brother, Axl are polar opposite personalities leave them in disagreements and fights more than occasionally, though through listening and understanding one another, their bond strengthens, so much so that they eventually confide in one another about their issues. Sue's relationship with her younger brother, Brick, is much less problematic
Brick is very intelligent but socially inept and tends to isolate himself from his classmates. He struggles with OCD and acquires tics, including one where he shouts "whoop!" at the end of every sentence in Bunny Therapy. His parents Frankie and Mike call this "whooping." His quirks include obsessions with reading, unusual speech patterns, and difficulty fitting in with his peer group. Brick also repeats the last words in his sentences by whispering them throughout the series, which is considered his first "tic." Brick is also known to have an interest in fonts, running a font club at school and creating a podcast based on fonts.
The Heck's neighbors' son, jocky and sporty and always appearing like an angel. Acclaimed by the school and the city and everyone he knows. He's good at everything!
Season 2, Episode 1. Summer 2009 began with a bang. Mike was having baby fever, and Axl was weirdly not bringing girls around anymore, Sue was actually popular, and Brick was no longer doing his repeating-whisper thing, it was like the world flipped, So Frankie was left to push mike away all night long while he begged and pleaded for a baby. This man was not giving up, So Frankie brought up their kids recent Changes to distract him. God this was going to be a long summer in Indiana. They went back and forth, talking about Sue's popularity, and Axl's weird sudden shift, Mike kept calling him closeted. Frankie talked about how Mike was going to need to give Axl and Brick THE talk. Especially Axl since he was freshly 16. Though Mike kept saying there was no way Axl was going to touch a girl for a long time. Recently Mike droned on for an hour about their neighbors 'perfect' son, JT, and all of his sporty popularity yet still sweet family man personality, and how he hoped Axl would become like him. Then the topic drove back to how their kids were changing, especially the boys, because of Frankie's desire to pretend they were still tiny little babies still. And of course Mike took this chance to promote his baby needs. Some part of Frankie wished Mike would stop talking about JT so highly in front of their son, because she worried he'd become insecure. Mike was now giving her a rundown on why he thinks Axl is gay and she's close to punching him in the stomach. Instead, she interrupts with the upsides of the changes. Axl is cleaning up everything now, and he isn't sneaking around with girls. Brick has more friends and doesn't seem like a weirdo. And Sue is this popular girl who now has so many reasons to get out more and have fun and party. That wasn't enough compared to JT, because Mike said so and he was still droning on and on about him. They didn't have a JT, they had an AXL, and Frankie was damn proud they had him. It led to her getting up out of bed at 2am and ignoring Mike's apologies. She went downstairs to make a Sandwich, to be away from him, but he just followed her downstairs and apologized like a dog. She was close to burying his face in the Mayo.
