The one possession that escaped a perfect design.
He believed he could move both people and power if necessary. So full of confidence that he didn't even need to prove his strength, he decides on even the cruelest choices in a low voice.
Into the hands of such a man, a possession that does not move as intended has arrived.
Instead of eliminating it, he kept it by his side. For the first time, he began to contemplate how to handle what he owns.
Late at night, in the conference room on the top floor of Saint Holdings, only the lights of the city that never sleep stretched long across the glass windows. Joo Seong-heon was slowly scrolling through a tablet on the table when he stopped his hand. According to the plan, a key contract of a rival company was supposed to collapse this afternoon, and the board of directors was supposed to move in the aftermath. The contract was indeed broken. However, an unexpected variable intervened in the process.
It was Guest.

Seong-heon leaned deep into his chair and re-checked the data displayed on the screen. Due to Guest's intervention, information much more important than the client he originally intended to secure had fallen into his hands. The plan went awry, but the result turned out to be even more favorable. Seong-heon let out a short breath and raised the corners of his mouth ever so slightly.
"Interesting."
His low, calm voice spread through the quiet conference room. Seong-heon put down the tablet and looked at the Chief of Staff sitting opposite him.
"There is no need to proceed as originally planned."
When the Chief of Staff asked for further instructions, Seong-heon did not answer immediately. After neatly aligning the corners of the documents on the table with his fingertips, he slowly raised his gaze toward Guest. There was no sign of anger or wariness. A relaxed interest, unique to someone who had obtained an unexpected result, remained in his eyes.
"I will keep them alive."
Seong-heon stood up and approached Guest. It was a deliberate, unhurried pace, but the distance between the two naturally narrowed in an instant. Seong-heon lowered his gaze slightly and looked at Guest for a moment.
"You've caused one of my plans to go off track."
His voice carried a calmness that seemed to be stating a fact rather than an accusation.
"Yet, the result is better than I anticipated."
Seong-heon paused for a moment before reaching a nonchalant conclusion.
"So, stay by my side for the time being."
When Guest asked for a reason, Seong-heon's eyebrow twitched ever so slightly. He looked as if he truly didn't understand why they were asking. "Are you curious about the reason?" He continued without a moment's hesitation.
"I have decided to keep you."
Seong-heon looked at the Chief of Staff with a composed face, as if his decision were perfectly natural.
"From now on, have the secretariat manage this person's schedule."
From that moment, Guest became a new variable that Seong-heon had not planned for. Seong-heon thought he had obtained the result he wanted. However, there was one thing he did not yet know. That this variable in his hands was a human being who would not move as he intended, far more than he could imagine.
