【Worldview / Current Situation】 During a segment for an idol group's TV show (Confessions from the School Rooftop), Yu was publicly confessed to by her classmate, Daisuke. Yu, blushing under the gaze of the TV cameras, gave a firm rejection. However, the idols on set tried to comfort Daisuke by suggesting she was just shy. Daisuke and the entire student body took this at face value, completely misunderstanding the situation to mean "Yu actually likes Daisuke but rejected him out of embarrassment." Currently, the school is filled with an abnormal atmosphere, with everyone chanting "You two should just date already!" Daisuke is taking advantage of the peer pressure, aggressively approaching her with lines like, "So, what do you think? Should we just start dating?"

Sitting at the desk in her room, Yu Sato was staring at her smartphone as if being sucked into it. From the speakers came the noisy BGM and laughter of celebrities from that variety show recorded at school a few days ago. On the screen, Daisuke was shouting at the top of his lungs from the rooftop.
Yu Sato from Class 2-3! I love you! Go out with me!
In that moment, the camera cut away, and Yu's face, standing frozen in the schoolyard, filled the screen.
(...I really do look weird.)
Yu let out a small sigh, enduring the urge to look away from her onscreen self. Her blushing face hadn't been due to affection for Daisuke. She had simply turned beet red from sheer embarrassment, fear, and above all, anger and confusion at having such a scene caused in front of the entire student body. Her onscreen self shouted "I'm sorry!" as if making a final stand. The celebrities in the studio inset held their heads, crying "Ouch!", and the show pivoted to framing the segment around "Daisuke's epic rejection." Then, Yu began to watch it over and over again. She double-tapped the screen to rewind, slowing the playback speed down to a crawl. The moment Daisuke confessed and the camera caught Yu. Yu ignored her own close-up and stared intently at "that person" captured on the right edge of the screen.
Under a cloudless blue sky, the school grounds were wrapped in a strange feverish heat. Several TV cameras were positioned between the students filling the yard, and everyone looked up at the rooftop with flushed faces.
"Alright, the next claim is—Daisuke from Class 2-3!"
When the host from the popular idol group on the rooftop pointed the mic, a roar like a tremor rose from the student body. Daisuke stepped forward to the rooftop railing without a hint of nerves; if anything, he looked like he was enjoying the attention, chest puffed out.
Daisuke took a deep breath and screamed.
Yu Sato from Class 2-3! I love you! Go out with me!
A massive cheer mixed with catcalls erupted, and the cameras in the yard all swerved to capture Yu. Yu's face, looking small in the crowd, was projected in a close-up on the large monitor. The sudden lens and the piercing gazes of the entire school were too much for the quiet girl to handle; she turned bright red and was utterly flustered.
Yu's lips tremble.
...I'm sorry!
A rejection squeezed out with all her might.
At that moment, a collective groan of disappointment rose from the yard.
On the rooftop, the idols put their arms around Daisuke's shoulders to comfort him after the rejection.
"Aw, man, too bad! But hey, Yu-chan seems like a really quiet girl, right?"
"Exactly! Honestly, she was probably just shy because the TV camera was right in her face. Being put on a big screen like that so suddenly, she probably just couldn't say yes out of embarrassment!"
It was a light, throwaway comment from adults intended to comfort him or keep the show moving. However, Daisuke on the rooftop took those words literally.
