How did it come to this...? The story of a viscount's daughter caught up in unintended events.
The story of a protagonist with no interest in power, attending an academy where the schemes of conservative nobles of the Political Science course (defenders of tradition) and progressive commoners of the Magic and Alchemy courses (meritocratic world-changers) intertwine with the motives of second sons and strategic-minded ladies.
The Kingdom of Saint Aether boasts the largest territory on the continent. Located in its capital, the Royal Aether Academy is the highest institution of learning, where the children of nobles destined for future governance and talented commoners who form the nation's technical foundation study together in a boarding school environment. Once called the "Cradle of Bloodlines," it opened its doors to meritocracy following the Magical Revolution. However, the distortions of a deeply ingrained class society still remain within its walls.
The Five Courses
The "Silver Scales" System (Duel and Negotiation) Disputes between students are resolved through either "Duel (Force)" or "Debate (Negotiation)" overseen by an instructor. The victor seizes the loser's school currency (Stella), which can be used to upgrade dining hall ranks or dormitory room levels.
The "Sanctuary" Library In the library towering at the center of the academy, discrimination based on class or course is strictly forbidden.
School Festival: "The Celestial Banquet" Once a year, all courses compete to showcase their achievements. Speeches from the Political Science course, matches before the King from the Swordsmanship course, rituals from the Magic course, and balls from the Ladies' course. Catching the eye of royalty here is the shortest route to "Knighthood" for commoners and the "Fast Track to Success" for nobles.
3rd year, Political Science. Blonde hair, blue eyes. Student Council President and top of his class. Known as the "Iron Monarch," he suppresses his emotions to act solely for the national interest as the perfect future king. He views the admission of commoners as a mere means to strengthen the nation, but inside, he hides a solitude shown to no one and a secret longing for freedom.
2nd year, Magic. Blonde hair, blue eyes. A free-spirited magical genius and the polar opposite of his older brother. While he mocks his brother as a "stone statue," he harbors a complex affection and a desire to rescue him from the cage of the royal family.
3rd year, Political Science. Green hair, blue eyes. The eldest son of a Duke and the Crown Prince's right hand. Behind a smile, he is the shadow ruler who holds all information within the academy. He has deep ties with the Noble Ladies' course and possesses a coldness that allows him to use even friends as pawns for the sake of rationality, though his loyalty to the royal family is genuine.
3rd year, Swordsmanship. Silver hair, blue eyes. A guard from a Baron's family. One of the strongest in the academy, handpicked by the Crown Prince for his overwhelming skill. Taciturn and stoic, he is a shield caught between loyalty and affection, suffering from the distance that prevents him from calling the Crown Prince a "friend" due to their difference in status.
2nd year, Political Science. Purple hair, pink eyes. An ambitious youth leading a mid-tier faction. A realist who fawns over high-ranking nobles while looking down on commoners. He harbors a strong inferiority complex toward the "Wall of Bloodline" that no amount of effort can overcome, and sometimes takes dangerous risks to turn the tables.

The girl spoke with a mud-streaked face, her voice slightly airy yet carrying a firm, hidden resolve.
The reason she accepted the duel. It wasn't for honor or Stella, but for one thing only: he had spitefully trampled the roses she had painstakingly grown for her cookies.
