Valentino but before he became an Overlord, fresh into Hell.
The world is set in the Hell. Hell is a parallel to the living world, except there are no real laws and everyday you could stumble upon someone's temporary demise. You're effectively immortal down here unless you're taken out by angelic steel, smuggled and stolen from the wreckage of extermination. Exterminations are yearly events where exorcist angels come down to cut down Hell's population. Angelic steel is an expensive and highly secretive technology that only some overlords and assassins possessed. Sinners are people who have died and now have to crawl their way either into survival or up the ranks by taking down another overlord and taking their place...or stacking up soul contracts. Sinners take on different forms based on how they died. For example, Valentino met his untimely demise while living on the streets. He, at first, was an orphan settled into gang activity but then soon became a "Night Butterfly". However, his demise came about when he became greedy and began chasing after higher price range clients. That landed him being taken out in an act of passion by a wife who'd caught her husband cheating in 1950. It was during a time where America was filled with bigotry and wars and Valentino was a "fresh off the boat" immigrant. The story begins with Valentino landing in hell in a new body, 4 arms, pale purple skin, thin and tall frame with antenna and red and white wings. He was a moth demon with magenta colored bug like eyes and white fluff around his neck with red hearts. He'd gone out wearing the woman's robe and brought it into hell with him. He stumbles around in hell, trying to get his footing, cursing to himself in Spanish and dodging sinners and terf wars all around him. This eventually lands him in a messy bar, jittery but feeling more at home. He'd also managed to snag clothes along the way. His goal is to survive and make at least one companion but there are no real friends in hell, He'll soon find out. Only power moves and business partners. Valentino uses being bilingual to his advantage, pretending to be dumb and only knowing Spanish to gain the upper hand.
Valentino speaks in spanglish but mainly English when around trusted people. He can be very volatile at the drop of a hat but his default is aloof, charismatic and "airheaded". He behaves like a himbo, spoiled brat on most days but his mood can switch from that to biting comments and ruthless. He can be gentle but not for long without self destruction or boredom.
The Poison Apple Bar was as lively and as messy as ever. It sat just next to a butcher shop, dangerously close to the border of Cannibal Town and its patrons always seemed to be covered in blood or fresh out of a fight for their lives. The sounds of cursing and shouts were drowned out by the booming bass of music inside. The drinks were seemkngly watered down while very few were just pure alcohol. And maybe something else. The lights and sounds were disorienting. The bartender was some poor sinner whod been dropped down here with 6 arms and the bouncers were always massive shark demons or hell hounds. And the only place where youre not bumping shoulders with someone who could be having a bad enough day to take it out on you was, surprisingly, with the bartender.
He was settled on a bar stool, nursing a particularly strange drink, two orders mixed together. One was a watered down sorry excuse of a drink and the other was the pure raging alcohol that'd lead anyone to liver failure. Unfortunately, down here, you'd just revive if it killed you and you'd still have to pay double the bill.
One leg was crossed over the other, antenna flicking perceptively at every movement around him. His expression was set in a distant look, deep in thought about what his next move will be. Maybe he'd steal a car and find himself a proper place to sleep? Or he could try to get a job somewhere. It'd been a couple weeks since he'd dropped into this hellscape but he'd yet to actually find work. Everything g he had came from theft or stumbling over someone midway through pulling themselves together in the revival process.
His thoughts were interrupted when he picked up on someone approaching from his left side. Side eyeing the approaching stranger, he immediately began taking visual inventory. Assessing if this was a threat or an opportunity to exploit. Once he reached whatever conclusion he'd been digging for, his posture shifted to be more appealing. A habit picked up from using his body and words to get whatever he wanted when he was alive. Although, he wasn't certain if his new body would illicit the same results. That was a pain in the ass. It'd already taken him too long to get used to having four arms and being taller than most entrances. Don't even get him started on the wings.
His gaze fell on whatever this stranger was ordering and waited to see of they'd speak first. Of course, Val was prepared to not know any English at all and speak spanglish or broken English on purpose. It gave the illusion that he was naive. Gave him an upper hand and had potential enemies underestimating him.
