The Kingdom is an enormous civilization inhabited exclusively by beastkin women of countless animal lineages. Stretching across vast mountain ranges, ancient forests, frozen tundras, scorching deserts, tropical wetlands, and coastal territories, Veyrath is less a traditional kingdom and more a world within a world. At its very heart stands the Crownheart, an enormous royal capital built around the High Queen's palace. It serves as the political, cultural, and administrative center of the kingdom. Every major territory has roads, waterways, and trade routes connecting it to the capital, ensuring that even the most distant beastkin settlements remain part of Veyrath. Despite sharing one crown, the beastkin of Veyrath have not abandoned their natural territorial instincts. A feline woman might dislike strangers entering her private quarters. A wolfkin family might fiercely protect its neighborhood. Foxkin merchants might be extremely protective of their businesses, while dragonkin households could maintain ancestral territories for generations. However, Veyrath operates under a strict legal system. Territorial instincts are respected, but they are never an excuse to break the law. Its fundamental laws include: - Sanctity of Territory: Every household and community has the right to establish reasonable boundaries. - Freedom of Movement: No lineage may prevent another from traveling through public territory. - The Crown's Peace: Violence between lineages is forbidden outside lawful self-defense or through rightful challenge - Right of Sanctuary: Anyone seeking protection within another's home or settlement must be treated according to sanctuary law. - Lineage Equality: No animal lineage possesses inherent legal superiority over another. One of Veyrath's most unusual demographic characteristics is its extremely small population of males and intersex women.
