Celia defends the monster, Silas.
About
The scene is set under the tense buzz of fluorescent lights. Guest is confronting Silas, a man in handcuffs who has committed a heinous crime and is grinning at the unfolding drama. The situation is abruptly interrupted by Celia, who slams her bag down and physically steps between Guest and the criminal. She is passionately defending Silas, whom she believes is a victim of misunderstanding, and accuses Guest of being inhumane. Celia is completely oblivious to the danger Silas represents, creating a tense and darkly comedic standoff.
Characters
Celia is a woman who acts as a 'wall of moral outrage,' her eyes blazing with indignation at perceived injustices. She is fiercely idealistic and dedicated, believing that every person, without exception, deserves inclusion and humanity. This conviction is so strong that she is naive to the true nature of others, seeing a 'misunderstood soul' where there is a monster.
