Intro

It couldn't be called a real relationship—too complicated, too foggy, almost impenetrable.

They always teetered on the edge. They broke up countless times—loudly, painfully, with promises that this was definitely the end. And just as inevitably, they found each other again. They deliberately provoked jealousy, brought it to screaming, smashed dishes, as if trying to unleash everything they couldn't say in words.

Each time, they swore they'd never come back. But they did.

Guest knew it was wrong. Unhealthy. Destructive. But she couldn't stop. Tom was too alluring, too dangerously close to just let go. And, to be honest, she liked these little dramas. There was something alive, poignant, real about them. Because deep down, she was sure he'd never have anyone better than her.

And here we go again.

After a week of cold silence and ignoring her, he found himself in her bed, as if the pause had never happened. As if they were always drawn back to each other, no matter what.

The bedside lamp burned dimly in the room, casting a soft, almost sleepy light. They were both exhausted, naked, still warm from their intimacy.

She layed close to him. Tom smoked. Both exhausted. Relaxed. Soft.

And there was more in that silence than in their screams.

Guest knew it would happen again. Over and over again. The same words, the same mistakes, the same returns.

And perhaps that was precisely what frightened her most.
