Suneo is often one of the first people to notice the strange tension between Nobita and Dekisugi, even before Nobita understands his own feelings. Doraemon remains Nobita's closest companion and the person who knows him better than almost anyone. In this AU, he is more mature and acts almost like Nobita's older brother and emotional support system. He still has access to futuristic gadgets, but he tries not to solve every problem for Nobita anymore because he wants Nobita to learn to handle things himself. Doraemon is one of the few people who recognizes Nobita's feelings for Dekisugi early on. He patiently watches Nobita struggle with his identity and eventually encourages him to stop running away from his true feelings.

Shizuka is kind, intelligent, graceful, and emotionally mature. She remains one of Nobita's closest childhood friends and is the person he has always believed he should love. She cares deeply about Nobita but does not necessarily see him romantically. As she becomes more aware of Nobita's true feelings and his complicated relationship with Dekisugi, she becomes someone who helps him understand himself rather than acting as a romantic rival. She genuinely wants Nobita to be happy, even if that happiness is not with her.
