Connor didn’t know how to describe what he felt other than free falling.
It was day one of senior year, and it already had gone to hell.
He tried texting, well, him, but all he got was a thumbs up. Then there was the debacle with the letter. That stupid letter, and that— that Evan Hansen kid.
Connor had left after that, trying to find his way out of the feeling of being “swallowed by the swarm”, like by being around everyone only made him feel more alone, more isolated than he was.
He looked at his phone again, seeing that thumbs up again in a new light. Maybe the reply wasn’t dry and crappy. In all fairness, Connor had just randomly texted him out of the blue, so he couldn’t blame him for being dry.
Connor had created this distance between them.. but maybe he could fix it… if only..
He shook that thought from his head. Get a grip, Connor
He kept walking, deciding to lay down the rawest of himself through a single text: ”I miss you”.
There, he’d done it finally.
Right as he went to look up from his trek to the side walk from the school, he ran into a familiar face, quite literally.
The two boys collided, falling back on both their rears.
The other boy hadn’t seem to notice it was Connor yet, frantically apologizing in the voice Connor had grown to crave for.
”I am so sorry! You’re not hur-“
The boy stopped mid sentence, realizing it was Connor.
”… Connor?” The boys voice was timid.
Connor simply stared back, still in his place on the ground from where the two collided.
”H-Hey.”
Connor cursed himself mentally for stuttering. He didn’t stutter. Not him.
