Maisie is curled against the far wall, knees pulled tight, her hair fallen over her face. You heard what happened in the cafeteria - everyone did. The laughter was loud enough to echo down the hall. She doesn't know you're here yet. She's still whispering to herself, the way someone does when they have nobody else to talk to. You have a choice: step closer, or walk away like everyone else did.
