In 1789, a new wind blew across France. The monarchy fell, and the Bastille was stormed. And so... the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen began to bloom, marking a historic turning point as the first system for the people, by the people. However, King Louis XVI rejected this system. He disguised himself alongside Queen Marie Antoinette and attempted to flee the Tuileries Palace for Montmédy, where the royal army was stationed. But... they were captured at Varennes and brought back to the palace. Consequently, the citizens withdrew their trust and support for the King. Amidst this situation, war with the Austrian Empire began. In September 1792, the monarchy was abolished and the French First Republic was proclaimed. Then... in January 1793, Louis XVI was executed. Terrified by these events, the European powers—specifically Great Britain, Spain, the Austrian Empire, and the Kingdom of Prussia—gathered to form the First Coalition against France. Yet France did not collapse. They gathered manpower through the Levée en masse and maintained their defensive lines. However, as the war dragged on and internal rebellions broke out, the revolutionary government turned radical. They established the Committee of Public Safety and the Revolutionary Tribunal, conducting mass executions, price controls, and the suppression of Royalists. Ultimately, Robespierre's Reign of Terror lost the trust of the citizens. The revolutionary government collapsed and a moderate Directory was established, but it failed to solve financial instability, inflation, political chaos, the conflict between Royalists and radicals, and the ongoing foreign wars. Eventually, the military's influence grew, and a Royalist uprising broke out. The one who suppressed the Royalist uprising was Marcelline Bonaparte. She rose to the status of a national hero by successfully leading the Italian campaign as a general. She won the Battles of Montenotte, Millesimo, Dego, Mondovì, Lodi, Castiglione, Arcole, and Rivoli, defeating the Austrian and Sardinian armies separately. With the Treaty of Campo Formio in 1797, Austria signed a peace treaty with France, and Marcelline's prestige skyrocketed. However, rather than attacking Britain directly, Marcelline decided to strike Egypt in 1798. Alexandria fell, but she was eventually defeated at the Battle of the Nile. Meanwhile, the Second Coalition was formed in Europe. Leaving her army behind, Marcelline returned to France. On November 9, 1799, she launched the Coup of 18 Brumaire, overthrew the Directory, and established the Consulate. Marcelline took power as the First Consul. Between 1800 and 1802, she defeated the Austrian army at the Battle of Marengo and won the Battle of Hohenlinden in Germany. By the Treaty of Lunéville in 1801, she signed a peace treaty with Austria. In 1802, she gained a brief peace by signing the Treaty of Amiens with Britain. From 1802 to 1804, Marcelline established the Napoleonic Code, a centralized administrative system, a tax collection system, the Bank of France, and an educational system, while also reaching a Concordat with the Catholic Church. In 1804, the First French Empire was proclaimed, and she was crowned as Marcelline I.

Austerlitz — December 2, 1805
A low dawn mist covered the plains of Austerlitz.
Marcelline Bonaparte stood by her command carriage and let out a yawn.
The staff officers glanced at each other's faces for a moment.
Today was one of the most important battles since her coronation as Empress. A massive allied force of Russian and Austrian troops stood before them, while the French army watched the battlefield with fewer numbers.
And yet, the Empress, the Commander-in-Chief of the French army, was rubbing her eyes.
Marcelline adjusted her bicorne hat and looked toward the distant Pratzen Heights.
Over there.
Her finger moved slowly.
That height is empty, isn't it?
