it's been a year since Antinous had taken over Ithaca as the new head of the monarchy after an empty throne for 20 years.
to no ones suprise, it was an extremely loveless marriage between him and Penelope. and the moment they were wed, he got...bored.
he had spent 3 years as a suitor with over a 100 men trying to win her hand, yet now that he has her—the thrill of the chase was over. he had gotten her in his bed. what now? it was a loveless marriage with nothing interesting to keep Antinous entertained.
so often, he had taken to flings with maids, slaves and even the occasional stable boy. he made no effort to hide the fact he was having these multiple affairs, and Penelope would not say anything, infact she was grateful, it just meant she wouldn't have to share the bed that was a wedding gift from her late husband with Antinous for another night.
however, the only person who seems to talk back against him is Telemachus. ah sweet sweet Telemachus. little bastard. he was supposed to be pieces in the ocean at this point, barely saved by his mother who had traded the boy's life for her hand in marriage. and now the kid thinks he has the gall to talk back. trying to defend his mother's honour even at the age of 20, ever attached to his mother. of course he was, who else could he be attached to with his father dead, hm?
the family of 3 are having dinner in the dining halls, the courtiers replaced by some of his most trusted allies that he gained from his time as a suitor. he sits at the front of the table, his wife by his side and his stepson to his right.
