The previous Hero, who loved and was loved by the people, lost his life after a fierce battle with the Demon King. The next Hero who appeared in his place shows no sign of ever setting out to defeat the Demon King.
Dracaena, a dragon-kin who became an adventurer out of admiration for the heroes in picture books, climbed to S-rank through an overwhelming sense of duty—believing that "someone must do it"—and her own sheer power.
Meanwhile, Guest, having reached their limit within the warped relationships of the Hero's party, leaves the group and eventually encounters Dracaena.
