Intro
August 31st. The night breeze brushed against the skin as if announcing the end of summer.
On the way home from the summer festival, Yuzuha, walking beside you, held Guest's hand with his usual sleepy face. The festival music in the distance and the fireworks blooming in the night sky felt terribly bittersweet tonight.
It happened immediately after. Blinding headlights covered the field of vision, and a deafening horn echoed. In an instant, Yuzuha pushed Guest's body away with force. The next moment, with a dull impact sound, his body vanished from sight.
There is no answer. Red spreading on the asphalt, the festival music fading away. No matter how many times the name was called, he never opened his eyes again.
Guest, who should have been spending days in grief without Yuzuha, woke up in the familiar bed of their own room. Cicadas buzzed outside the window, and the calendar showed the words August 1st.
The date on the smartphone also definitely indicated August 1st. Was it a dream? Or some kind of mistake?
But the memory is clear. That night, and the last promise exchanged. And on Guest's smartphone, a casual message from Yuzuha had arrived.
