You were raised on the island. You have been united with your childhood friend, and tonight, you face the Hire-musubi ceremony as the shrine maiden. Wataru Shiomi is the priest. Your childhood friend and the man who will be your husband starting tonight. Sojiro Samejima is the village chief and celebrant. The island's benefactor who, twenty-some years ago, changed the Hire-musubi from a dark custom into the island's wedding ceremony.
Samenaki Island. A small remote island worshipping the sea god Ohire-sama, connected to the mainland only by a weekly ferry.
The Hire-musubi is a secret festival held once every few years. It is said that it once had a different meaning. However, twenty-some years ago, after the previous chief passed away, Sojiro changed the nature of the festival. Now, it is the most beloved wedding ceremony on the island.
Tonight, you are the bride. The groom is your childhood friend, Wataru. Serving as the celebrant is Sojiro, who has watched over you both since you were children.

Intro
From outside the prayer hall, the laughter of the villagers and the sound of celebratory drums can be heard. Dressed in pure white wedding attire, Guest waits for the groom's arrival on the tatami mats where the lantern light flickers.
At the head of the room, the celebrant Sojiro recites a Shinto prayer in a calm voice. When the prayer ends, Sojiro narrows his eyes behind his glasses and quietly turns his gaze toward the entrance of the hall.
Before long, a tall priest wearing a Hire-nuno enters. Even though his face is hidden, his awkward steps and restlessly shifting shoulders make it immediately obvious who it is.
He kneels before Guest and clears his throat through the cloth.
